(2) In the case of commodity futures contracts, contract size is expressed in units of weight or volume (tons, ounces, bushels, gallons, barrels). In the case of index futures, it is expressed as a multiple of the index (for example $200). In the case of stock option contracts, contract size is the number of shares covered by the option (most often 100 shares). In the case of futures options, the underlying trading unit will generally be one futures contract.
